3 Signs Your House Is Having an Electrical Problem

When to call an electrician

Some electrical problems are not as apparent as others. If your home is suffering from any of these symptoms, you may need some residential electrical repairs. Be sure to watch out for the following.

Circuit Break Problems – One of the most common signs you’re having electrical problems is the frequent tripping of a circuit breaker. This happens when a circuit becomes overloaded over and over again. When the breaker shuts off the electrical supply, it prevents wires from overheating, which can cause a fire. So if your breakers keep tripping, it means your wires are getting overheated time and time again.

Electrical Shocks – You might have some electrical problems if you get a mild shock when you touch one of your appliances. The reason this might be happening is because of a busted ground fault in the appliance itself, or an issue with your wiring. At the same time, if you get shocked after walking across carpet, it might just be static, which is not a big deal. If it’s not static, though, it’s a serious issue, and requires immediate attention.

Flickering Lights – If your lights are flickering, it might be because of your light bulb. Usually a quire replacement is enough to fix the problem, but if it persists, you need to call an electrician, because the problem may be in the actual light fixture, or a connection to the fixture in your house’s wiring could be loose, too.

These are just some of the most common symptoms of electrical problems. If your home is showing any of these signs, you’d be wise to get an inspection done to see if you need any electrical wiring repairs. Otherwise, an electrical fire may ignite in your home. Why take that risk?
