The trenchless or pipes bursting method of sewer repair and replacement has been around for 10 to 15 years, but is not very well known. It offers homeowners a significant advantage in the reduced disruption and time needed to carry out major sewer line repairs. With trenchless sewer repair, digging is kept to a minimum. This means that lawns, patios and basements require minimal clean up and restoration once the sewer repairs are done.

Hassle-free sewer line cleaning and repair

Trenchless technology allows access to sewer lines and pipes for cleaning, repair or replacement without digging up the length of the entire line. And yet the majority of respondents on an Angie’s List poll, about 78%, said that they had never heard of of “no dig” sewer repairs. And a majority of respondents, 73%, replied that they would be willing to pay more for sewer and pipe repair and replacement, if the costlier method did less damage to their property, landscaping, deck, patio and other features.

How does pipe bursting work?

Since trenchless pipe replacement needs only two small pits to be dug, it causes 90% less damage to the property and to concrete work than the conventional method, which requires digging up the entire length of the old pipes.

With pipes bursting technology, the old pipes are burst in place and replaced with new ones. This saves a lot of time and disruption for the homeowner. And repairs done using trenchless technology are as durable as those using the old method of lining. Trenchless sewer repairs come with warranties from 10 to 50 years.

Time, weather, tree roots and other factors degrade sewers and pipes over time. If your home or pipes are more than 40 years old, it may be time to have them inspected or replaced. Opting for trenchless sewer replacement will ensure minimal damage and disruption to your house and property.
