Your roof is one of the most important parts of your home, yet it is often one of the most overlooked project. A damaged roof can lead to leaks, structural damage, and may even lead to a collapse of your roof. To prevent damage to your home, be sure to look out for these warning signs that tell you it’s time for roofing repairs.
On The Outside
The next time you pull out of your driveway or take the garbage out, take a minute to look at your house from the outside. When gauging whether or not you need roofing repair, an easy sign to look for is the curling or buckling of roofing shingles. This is a sign that your shingles are aging, and will likely need to be replaced. Also keep on the lookout for sagging the the roof, or areas that are smooth and dark, where the granules have worn off. If you’re able to reach the gutters, check and see if any roofing materials have collected in them, such as crumbled up pieces of shingle granules.
On The Inside
Walk up into your attic and inspect your ceiling for any cracks of sunlight, or any drips and leaks that may have gotten through. These are both signs that you’ll need immediate roofing repair, as it allows water to come into your house ans weaken it’s structure. A sagging roof can also be observed from the inside, so check to make sure there are no dips in your roof from the attic as well.
If any of these signs apply to your roof, you’ll want to call home repair services right away. Ignoring roof damage can lead to serious damage in your home, and can be a catalyst for bacteria and other organisms such as mold. To avoid these costly repairs, be sure to have your roof properly maintained, and have it replaced every 20 to 30 years.
